Dorian Deadlifts vs RDL?

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post in any forum so bare with me. I’ve started doing barbell Romanian Deadlifts and I’m really liking them for Hamstrings and glutes. But I’ve seen videos for Dorian Deadlifts and apparently they are great for isolating the back more so than a traditional DL where the bar hits the floor. When I watch videos of both I’m not seeing too much of a difference in the technique for each. They look like the same exercise. How can I improve my form on each?

Thanks,

I believe the big difference is the upper back action. During the lowering portion you want to open the scapular muscles and then retract them again as you initiate the concentric portion. But hey, I’ve been wrong before.

Take a close check on form for both exercises. Give each exercise a try for a few weeks and see what works better for you.
