Does Anyone Like TO?

Yeah, but I also like Chad Johnson.

What can I say, as a cocky bastard, i tend to respect my own, and when somebody can back up their mouth, I tend to just sit back and enjoy the show.

But let me clarify, i like him as a football player, i’ve never met the man, so I can’t really make a call if i like him as a person.

I like Chad Johnson, but he is more of a clown and his antics seem more good natured. As his career goes on though and he doesn’t get the success he feels he “deserves” I could see him going sour.

one thing about Chad, he doesnt start a 1/10 of the in house shit that TO does, he supports his team, never told the paper that he thought his quarterback was a homosexual like TO did (Jeff Garcia).

I get the feeling Chad Johnson’s whole deal is a carefully calculated gimmick to make him more famous and get more endorsements/make more money. I think it has worked because he’s not even the best receiver on his own team yet he’s one of the top 10 most famous players in football probably.

As far as TO goes, he seems like an ass, but he is a hell of a football player. He did everything he could have done in Philly to win a Super Bowl but other guys on his team choked.

You can’t really knock a receiver for not winning a ring; there’s only so much that one guy out of 11 can do.

Maybe he isn’t talking about taking plays off, but he’s called one of his quarterbacks gay and another a quitter. That’s a little worse than just wanting more involvement.

There was also knock on him when he was with the 49ers that he would tip plays with his body language. They said that defenses would pay attention to his hands before the snap. If he was holding his arms by his chest, like he was ready to sprint, then it was a pass play, but if his hands were hanging lazily by his sides, then you knew a run was coming or the play didn’t involve him.
Honest to God the camera was near the huddle and I saw him roll his eyes when they broke and sure enough… Romo had called a running play.

I think people tend to blow this TO stuff so horribly out of proportion. First, it’s fairly silly to make it seem like TO has done nothing by saying he has not won a Super Bowl. No wide receiver can completely put a team on his back and do that - not even Jerry Rice.

Also, so you see a guy (right after a loss to a team they should have beaten) who is frustrated… AND he is a wide receiver. Find me a WR who doesn’t feel he should get more throws to them per game.

If it were just frustration and wanting the ball more, than I don’t think many people would have a problem with him. But, he has a history of many other issues, too.

Do I like to what?

I’ll concede your first point about not winning about Super Bowl. It takes a whole team, not just one person. But you still need to prove yourself before you get an ego. He had the ego first.

Second, it is partly the media’s fault for always putting a camera in his face, but the guy has a history of bad-mouthing his team and teammates. You’d think he would have at least learned to keep his mouth shut by now but no, he likes the attention too much.

4 You may not like his personality but when have you heard of him getting arrested at a night club, selling blow or weed to a stripper, committing sexual assault etc. Save for the “pill swallowing incident” which was not model behavior, however I don’t think it right to chastize or demonize a person for having suicidal tendencies.

Sure, he’s hasn’t done illegal things but that doesn’t mean he’s not an ass.

Here’s another tale from when he was with the 49ers. He used to frequent the Outback Steakhouse in Fremont. He’d usually come in with a huge party, like 15-20 people. They’d run up a huge bill every time and then he’d demand they comp the whole table. They did a few times, but after like the third or fourth time, the manager took him aside and told him that he wasn’t going to get comped anymore.

I had a few friends that worked there at the time and they said that everyone would fight over who would have to take his table, because they would essentially hog an entire section for a whole night and leave only a $5-10 tip for the entire tab.

I always love hearing stories about rich people being cheap asses.
Contrast that with Kurt Warner.

And that’s why it’s easy to like Kurt Warner. Thanks for the article.

That happens with most receivers. It’s a good thing too, if the opposing team is doing it.

I would rather see TO punch a team mate in the faces than have to lesion to him run his mouth. That way he could get some humble pie. I wonder how many times it has or has almost come to blows with him and other team mates? Im willing to bet more than I have digits to count.

As far as CJ. Gabby is right, he is a Clown. But not the funny haha type but the sad pathetic type. I thought it was funny has hell that Reebok told him they were not going to make more jerseys. Also he is by no means any where close to sniffing the Hall of Fame and when he put that jacket on is when he lost me.

Moss might take plays off but at least he take responsibility for it. McNadd said it best “Keep my name out cha mouth.”

Brandon Marshall may have done some stupid shit, but after getting told by Cutler, he seems to have cleaned up his act. I still like Stokely. Good, dependable receiver, and he has his personal life in check.

I was going to chime in, then I glanced at my avatar…I think it’s time to get a new one.

Yeah, but I still think respect for your own teammates is one of the most important traits.
