Endo just called and moved my appt to June 26th. I guess I’ll start then.

Just got this lab back.

I see my CREATININE has gone up. What is creatinine and what do these lab mean? My endos office called last week and said all is normal. What do you think?

Cortisol is through the roof.

Waking up with a headache is common among those with hormonal imbalance and is a clear sign of hypothyroidism which your temperature confirm. If you start TRT without addressing the thyroid you won’t notice much improvement, in fact you might feel worse.

You need to check Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3 and antibodies. You can easily run these tests yourself.

How do I run those test myself?
Should I start iodine?

Discount labs. Iodine isn’t likely to be enough unless you are severely iodine deficient. Morning temperatures are terrible. Should be 97.7 upon waking.

I don’t understand. Are you saying iodine isn’t the problem?

Your thyroid hormones are low, that’s why your temperatures are low and supplementing iodine may not be enough to bring your temperatures back to normal. Low thyroid function slows down every cell in your body including you mind and slows down metabolic process, weight gain is expected.

A lack of iodine can cause thyroid disease over time.

Can my elevated cortisol cause This? Would it be bad to start iodine?

Elevated cortisol occurs when stress is commonplace in your life, low thyroid function causes depression and anxiety which can then raise cortisol levels. It’s a negative feedback loop and a lot of the time people are handed depression medication when what they need is thyroid treatment.

You will feel better if you start iodine supplementation, you may notice a sharper mind. TSH will have no diagnostic value when starting supplementation, so if you have an upcoming doctors appointment doctor may ask you to stop iodine supplements.

TRT may lower cortisol levels often killing two birds with one stone. You will still need to address low thyroid hormones.

I have a gp appointment Tuesday. I’ll request theses labs: Cholesterol panel, Estradiol E2 sensitive LC/MS/MS, not ELISA. TSH, fT3, RT3 and fT4, ferritin, transferrin saturation, serum iron and TIBC or UIBC.

Should I ask for a test of pregnenolone?

I read an article linked from this site. It talk about using kelp supplements for IR. Which IR supplement do you suggest? How much selenium a day?

Gp’s usually drop the ball in thyroid testing and many endo’s also perform minimal testing which is sometimes do to limited knowledge and or insurance policy/coverage, that’s why I suggested doing labs yourself.

KSman is really good a dosing IR based on levels.

My endo will test whatever I ask. My gp is a little more difficult.

Have you any knowledge about Seriphos?
How do I contact ksman about IR?

Weight gain has been very difficult. After stopping benzos I lost 22lbs in 2 months. I’m back to 194 lbs. I’m pretty lean, don’t have a lot of fat. I do very little exercise. I walk about 2 miles 5 days a week and sometimes ride a bike.

My dizziness the last few days have precluded me from my walks. My diet is pretty clean. Almost all organic whole foods. I don’t take any vitamins or supplements.

Drinking about 100oz water a day. I urinate every 1 to 2 hrs. Pretty close to clear, just a little color in the urine.

The last week I’ve felt a little discomfort near the right testicle. I’m not sure the feeling is in the testical, but in that area.

I do have a perforated eardrum and will start vestibular rehabilitation next week.

My gp gave me labs for Epstein Bar, Lyme, and HHP NOT sure that’s correct. It’s for herpes 6. Also, e2 sensitive, serum iodine, pregnenolone. I tried for rt3 but he wasn’t having it.

Refusal to test rT3 has to do with some doctors believing rT3 has no effect on the body, this thinking is wrong. rT3 happens to be the most expensive thyroid labs a doctor can order, insurance could ring his neck so he’s not sticking his neck out for you. It’s three times more expensive than Free T3 and Free T4.

If rT3 is elevated you will not recover 100%. You can run these tests yourself.
