Do You Count Dietary Fiber/Sugar?

So for those of you who count calorie/protien etc…

Do you subtract dietary fibers and sugar from the total carbs?

I do. Just curious…

Nope. If it goes in my mouth, I count it (yes, even the sugar free gum that I don’t actually “eat”).

I don’t count fiber, in fact I subtract it from total carbs so I can more accurately track intake.

Yea I don’t count fiber, but I definately count sugar. Those are two totally different types of carbs. Fiber used for gastric clearing and slowing down the insulin response of a meal, while sugar depending upon what type (fructose, dextrose) certainly affects insulin and is used by the body for energy while most fiber is not (some soluble fiber can be but it’s negligible).

Why the heck would you not count sugar?

fiber, maybe if I do a VLCD, but why in the world subtract sugar, lol

Don’t count fiber, it provides no calories, so its not really a carb even though its listed under carbs.

hey guys do u count donuts and candy bars in yer calories cuz i dont think sugar should count im 600 lbs 94% bodyfat please help what am i doing wrong

Yeah for sure, I pulled my punches because I thought you may have been legitimately retarded.

Im a freak about sugar. I try to have very little in my diet, I almost even feel guilty putting milk in my shakes.

I don’t count fiber.

I take notice of Sugar, and Protein, aside from that, I don’t even pay attention to much else. As to the fiber, while I don’t count, I do make sure that I get at least a few green veggies or salads each day just because my carb intake is usually pretty low (don’t want to back up the plumbing)

Just out of curiosity how many grams of sugar does everyone try to limit themselves to in a day?
