A lot of these things have varying usefulness depending on the person. For example I have a problem absorbing a certain form of B12 and as a result was deficient in B12 and it’s metabolites. Since I didn’t want to change my diet, my doctor just has me take a B12 supplement of the form that I can absorb.
I’m assuming you are talking about a MTHFR gene mutation and taking Methylcobalamin.
I feel you should trust your doctors opinion far more than you trust mine.
Have you tried natural B12 or synthetic?
Hey, I also had the similar problem. Some trace elements had not been absorbing and I was feeling really bad. My friend told me that it is a common trouble and recommended me to choose something on https://www.nhc.com/brand/onnit . This brand is totally safe and has a lot of positive reviews (one of them is mine). I have already felt results in 2 months. Homeopathic medicines aren’t always bullshit. There is a big choice of products for sportsmen. Even know I am waiting for an order with supplements for my husband. Hopefully, that I have helped you.
