is there a stance or grip that is best for the fatter guy??my dead sucks and i wanna get better but im all over the place…help me please.
A video would be very helpful. It could just be a form problem. I’m fat guy in recovery and my deadlift is by far my best lift. I pull conventional as well.
Make your stance a little wider, and point your toes out.

I have both problems…the answer is Sumo. I mix in some conventional gets in, but Sumo just feels right.
44 inch waist at 5’10"
At 5’10" with 44in waist you have to options. One is the sumo deadlift. The other is called a treadmill.
I mean no offense at all as I have more around my waist than I should as well but that’s about it.
I feel ya, when i was 20 years old, i had a 48 inch waist.
36 inch now, but enough of that.
pull sumo, and youll be fine.
I’m fatter and I DL conventional just fine. Toes out and keep it as narrow as you can.
