How long should you stay on a particular diet to know if it is working for you?

What is the goal of the diet? Fat loss and muscle building diets need to be continually assesed (i.e. once per week) and if after two or three weeks something isn’t working, then the diet should be modified rather than scrapped all together. It realy isn’t hit or miss; you have to alter your diet as necessary for your goals.
