Delusional About Exercise

Most Americans are Delusional When it Comes to Exercise

Most Americans believe they’re living a healthy lifestyle – including eating well and exercising enough – according to a survey of 400 U.S. adults by Kinetix Living.

However, research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tell a different story. According to the CDC, only three out of 10 Americans exercise as much as they should, and 60 percent are overweight.

While 85 percent of the survey participants believe they live a healthy lifestyle, 47 percent said they have some knowledge of how to eat nutritionally but don’t do so consistently. The survey also found that:

39 percent of the participants eat three or less times a day

27 percent eat five or six times a day

32 percent believe you must be exhausted at the end of a cardio workout in order for it to be effective

51 percent said they exercise a few times a week

61 percent said they believe you should get 30 minutes of exercise daily to maintain a healthy lifestyle

As for not eating healthy, 82 percent of respondents blame it on not enough time or eating out too often.

Dr. Mercola’s Comment:

When you carefully examine the data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) you will find out only 30 percent of the public are getting the exercise they need. This makes perfect sense as two-thirds of the U.S. population is overweight and most people who exercise appropriately are relatively immune to obesity.

What I found really interesting from this survey was that 85 percent of people believe that they have a healthy lifestyle. Amazing, absolutely amazing, that so many people can be in such denial about what they are doing to their health.

It is one thing to not do what you know is right, but another to lie to yourself about the truth. Sure seems quite similar to alcoholism. One of the primary characteristics of an alcoholic is that they are in denial about their addiction to alcohol, and the first step to healing is to actually admit the truth to themselves.

Nice find and a good article, but it doesn’t surprise me. you could have conducted this study at a local wallmart by looking at the people that were buying vitamins and looking at the junk food they have in their cart.

Most Centers for Disease Control are delusional when it comes to exercise… the would probably say that most of you are unhealthy because you don’t spend an hour on the stairmaster per day…
