DeLay Owes Lawyers $500,000

#1

I guess once you have the foul stench of corruption on you, people will stop handing you money. Too bad lobbyists are disqualified from donating to DeLay's criminal defense fund, because then he would be loaded with cash.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

If he get's back in government, he'll have lots of money to throw around...

#3

You can be a Congressman while you're in prison? Weird!

Seriously, DeLay has 4 challengers in the primary alone, and his poll numbers are dismal in his home district.... and he hasn't even been found guilty yet.

What are the odds DeLay's innocent. when Abramoff and DeLay are like two peas in a pod, and Abramoff already copped a guilty plea?

DeLay's done.

#5

If he is guilty I hope he gets the maximum sentence.

I despise corruption.

I have been saying this for months.

The right wingnuttery on this site flamed me about my prediction.

Facts have nothing to do with partisanship.

If the Democrats were in power over the last 10 years they would be going through the same ringer the Republicans are right now.

Cheers!

Where's Rainjack bragging about his buddy The Hammer these days?

I may be recalling incorrectly, but I believe you were predicting DeLay's demise due to Ronnie Earle, which was and is ridiculous. Ronnie Earle's indictment is written in crayon and held together with duct tape. The Abramoff thing has always been the more serious accusation.

Of course, we haven't heard anything about DeLay actually being indicted or even investigated w/r/t Abramoff yet, but if he is guilty, he should be tossed under the bus.

Maybe DeLay will be back... his replacement as House Whip (Boehner) just said that he would step aside and let DeLay have his job back, if DeLay is acquited on the Texas charges (Ronnie Earl case). Boehner and DeLay are buddies. Since the Abramoff trial doesn't happen til December 2007, DeLay could be back in his old job before the end of the year.

Will the GOP allow it? IMO if DeLay comes back as Whip, it wouldn't just be the GOP shooting themselves in the foot, it would be the GOP shooting themselves in the head.
