I’m new to trying to build up my body, not to physical activity. In the past I’ve done endurance events like ski-mountaineering races, long runs, Nordic skiing, cycling. That kind of thing. So I’m not totally unconditioned.
Since I’ve been trying to put on muscle (the muscle is coming much slower than the strength, and the strength is what I’m really after)probably once a week I wake up in the middle of the night hungry and dehydrated.
I drink 1+ gallons of water a day. I usually go really hard three days a week, moderate two days a week (ABABA) then two days either entirely off, or almost entirely off. My “sleepless night” is usually after the last A day (that night).
Any advice? I usually try to hydrate and drink a protein shake close to bedtime, but not so much that I’m waking up in the middle of the night to loose some water weight.
