Deficit Trap Bar Deadlifts with Chains

@CT

Hi CT, a few days ago you helped me out with my question about trap bar deadlifts (standing on a 20kg plate for quad emphasis), and how i’m slow to start the set etc…

you mentioned i should lower the weight and reset each rep and just accept that the start of each rep will be slow…

I was just wondering, how about if i reduced the weight and added chains? my thinking is that the quads will still be able to initiate the lift explosively (and receive good stimulation) and the increased resistance throughout the rep will stimulate the hips/quads more effectively…

what’t your thoughts on this? -i cant be the only one considering using chains for this reason haha.

edit: also, i know you recommend training through muscle soreness, but my side delts are still really sore from last round of high pulls, and i’m meant to be hitting incline bench today… not sure if i should wait until tomorrow -will it affect my performance??

what’s everyones thoughts/experiences with situations like this on the layer system?

thanks in advance,

i am NOT ct, so you can take this for what it is worth, but dead squat bar deadlifts wearing olympic wieght lifting shoes from a small deficit has kept my low body in shape while i have severe knee issues that will require major surgery in near future.

the dead squat bar, though i have been one of the biggest cynics for the products offered at this site, has been one of the best 500$ investments i have made in a LONG time.

( i cannot do full squats anymore without taking a week off training and use of narcotic pain medication :()

this is me with 235kg of bumper plates.

i could not get anywhere near this amount of weight on a typical trap bar with bumper plates.

i love this bar!!!

thank you i appreciate the advice! :slight_smile:

My whole posterior chain completely over powers my quads even on squats lol. I’m going to stick to standing on a 20kg plate for trap deadlifts as i have never felt quad stimulation quite like it… I also completely know where you’re coming from with the DS bar, but at the minute I’m able to to train in one of the best performance centres in the UK, maybe even Europe, and I’m also using smaller weights than you so the standard trap hex bar is good for me :slight_smile:

as for the main topic of adding chains: you look like you know what your talking about, so i think i’m gonna try it with chains next week haha.

thanks a lot for your help!

CT, what’s your oppinion on the chains to maintain explosiveness throughout the deficit trap deadlift reps?
