Deficit Deadlift

I read an article in which Dmirty Klokov says the deficit deadlift is the most bang for buck exercise. If I focus on them, will it improve my other lifts such as squat? I’m doing a minimalist routine with legless rope climbs and external rotation work for my upper body. I need a lower body lift and I would like to know what you guys think about using the deficit deadlift as opposed to squat.

What is your training goal?

You should know why deficit deadlifts offer benefits.

ROM. And requires more MMC so you don’t fuck your back up.

No, no, no. Klokov says it’s the best exercise, so it IS the best exercise.

Joking aside, deficit deadlifts are pretty awesome if you can do the properly. If not, back squats or trap bar deadlift are far better choices if you have to restrict yourself to one movement (which you don’t unless you’re playing mind games).

are you really only doing rope climbs and external rotations for your upper body?

This

I understand the impulse to minimise your training but I think this might be a step too far, I can’t see any reasonable goal that would benefit from limiting yourself to these three exercises.

not the best idea for a beginner. You’ll be unbalanced in both look and performance
