Deadlifting with a Bench Belt??

I’m a fat bastard, 6,3 330 with around 25% body fat.

I gained consistently in deadlifts until my cheap belt broke and I bought a nice 13mm lever belt. Since then, my squat has increased, and my dreads have stayed, about a year now. Squat has increased about 150 lbs, dead has increased about 20.

I’m not saying the belt is the problem, but I have to grip and rip because the belt gets me out of position if I grab it and pull myself down.

I plan to use my cheap belt this Friday for my last season before my meet in hopes it will stay on for some testing.

FYI, my max is 500 lbs, but I can do 465 for 12. I can get into position on rep 2, but not rep 1.

Again, not saying yes or no, just giving you another perspective from someone who has the same concerns.

I have used a belt for years but have now started to use belts less and less now. I find most movements they just get in the way. Not only that, they tend to be a security blanket of some sort when going after heavier lifts.
