Deadlift Question

I am returning to lifting after 15 years and this will be the first time I’ve trained deadlifts specifically in 20 years - when I only did sumo. I bought a hex bar since my back is compromised and noticed that the AZ Cardinals strength coach has them using the elevated handles (even the short guys).

I did this for a few cycles and it works great for me being 6 feet and gangly, but am I compromising my long term strength or creating any deficiencies of which to be aware? Does anyone know the rationale for the way they do it in this picture of Darnell Dockett, or if it matters if I use the elevated handles long term instead of flipping it over?

Thanks,
Bart

Use the handles that allow you to use good form, not the most weight. In general, a full ROM is best.
