Deadlift PRs: 400 and 440 at 168

Might be small change to you… but I just pulled my first 400lb(182.5kg) deadlift followed by a 440lb(200kg) last night! (Just belt and chalk)

Very nearly puked lol!

(I’m 5"8 & 174lb(12st6) btw)

Edit: Thanks to the mod who renamed this

Cool. 309.7lb (140.5kg) to go.

Congrats bud. It’s always enjoyable to get over the hump in any lift. Keep it up.

Way to go man. 405 was a big milestone for me too. I’m pushing for that 500 lb deadlift now. I assume you are doing the same.

440 isn’t half bad for a guy your size. keep it up… you’ll hit 500 in no time.

Thanks guys,

Might have hit 400 sooner just haven’t tried it in a while but it was great motivation. Good to know current program is working.

For the sake of sounding stupid, why?..

Well you’re more then welcome to race me to a 3x BW deadlift. Feel free to check out my log/videos, I always like friendly motivational competitions.

What program are you on? I’m a similar statue and weight (5ft9 and 160lbs) pulled 355 a few months ago.

I’m going to guess(200kgs + 140.5kgs = 340.5kgs) and he’s going off the thread title of a bw of 168lbs:

75kg Ismo Lappi 1973 FIN 74.70 340.0 16.11.2001 Sotkamo FIN

Nice work on the PR.

Good numbers. I remember hitting 405 for the first time (and come to think of it, the only time) and I couldn’t stop smiling for days. I was very similar in size.

That was my guess too…

Thanks guys!, definitely heading to the 500 next. I make that 226.79kg?? With the plates at my Gym another 27.5kg to go! (227.5kg)

I was doing the Bill Star 5 x 5 for a while, then about 3 months ago I switched to this:

http://tnation.T-Nation.com/hub/-sie-#myForums/thread/4053531/

I stopped making progress on the program listed at the top as it was adding weight to the bar twice a week and I couldn’t manage the recovery. So I kept one max effort in and swapped out the other to a dynamic effort as I needed to increase speed on my bench etc.

This was meant to address my weak points, it seems to be working too. (If anyone else sees something wrong with the program do shout up!)

Can I just say that this is a notch against the guys who claim that stronger automatically correlates with huger? I will stop interjecting now
