I am relatively new to training "properly" in the gym and I have a question about deadlift grip.
I have read all the horror stories about tearing biceps while deadlifting using a mixed grip. I am currently using a mixed grip while deadlifting on 5/3/1 and making good progress for me, pulling 200Kg on week 3. I am not going to compete in comps or anything like that so I am wondering should I use straps ( Wendler says not to) or attempt Hook grip? I have in the past briefly but I find it uncomfortable with only even moderate weight.
The thing is maybe it is only like one in a 1000 chance of tearing a bicep but I just don't think it is worth it if you can actually prevent it.
What you think guys?
