Road to 600KG and Gripper Training

Thanks for the advice man! Ill have to check out his log. I will say the hardest part for me is trying to get sleep. I have never been so sleep deprived in my life haha, but I would not trade it for a second.

I am surrounded by quite a few recent fathers at my workplace; very tired, recent fathers. You’re not alone! Things will normalize before too long, it’s an exciting time.

You are right about that. I just quickly read through @ActivitiesGuy log on his progress made to a 600 pound deadlift. Sounds like I am going to be switching up my plan a little bit. The high frequency low volume deadlifts and back squats alternated day to day seems to work very well.

Ya man, really good “bang for your buck” movements!

It tough not to be strong squatting and deadlifting 6-7x per week. Kind of just forcing your body to adapt. You will have to be careful and really listen to your body though, self regulating is easier said than done!

Gotta keep it light, and take it slow and steady. I got a year and a half to bring my deadlift up 125 pounds. Thanks for pointing me in a helpful direction.

If you’re going to go this route, here are a couple of guiding factors.

  1. Keep the daily volume low. If you read my log, you see how many workouts are basically an escalating warm-up (135, 225, 315, etc) and then 5-6 singles at my top weight for the day, which brings me to point two…

  2. Keep it light(ish) most of the time. With a 600-pound max, I do the vast majority of my work between 405 and 500, with an occasional venture into the mid-to-high 500’s, but that’s at most once every week or two. I really like the base daily workout (for deadlifts) of six singles at 75% for most of the sessions. Once a week I’ll crank it up and top out around 85-95% and maybe once every couple months I’ll actually get near a max.

Speaking of which, if I feel good, I may try to go over 600 just before Christmas, but only if I’m feeling it that day.

None of this is rocket science. It’s all pretty common-sense.

Just quickly going back through your log, it seems like you made some significant progress as far as PR’s went for weight as you started to incorporate the front squat and back squat work as well. Right now I am sitting high 400’s as my max with about 455 as the weight I can hit anyday no problem. Sounds like i should keep daily work in between 315 - 365 and work up to 405 once a week. Thanks for the pointers man

Ill take the 340x3, but again im getting frustrated with myself as depth has been questionable. I may introduce box squats on one of the 3 days per week im squatting to try to grease that groove more. I will say since working with these SBD knee sleeves, they are tight and provide some resistance at the bottom. Still getting used to them.
