Dan John's Two Day Program Good to Follow?

I’m looking for a simple program focused on strength that’s ideal to follow while training for an endurance race (marathon, obstacle course race). I came across Dan John’s 2 day program (2 Times a Week for Twice the Gains - Bigger Stronger Leaner - COMMUNITY - T NATION) and thought this would be good to follow while endurance training. Any other suggestions or does this routine look good while endurance training.

thanks.

I tried this program two years ago. It was ok. If all you’re after is strength&size maintenance, it works.

Can work well as long as you really bring it/push for PRs on top sets

If you’re specifically looking for a two day a week lifting plan, I’d suggest instead this 5/3/1 plan: https://www.t-nation.com/training/effective-training-for-busy-men

It’s more appropriate for complementing other athletic training/conditioning work. Like nighthawkz said, that Dan John program is more appropriate for maintenance and doing some basic, decent work when your schedule gets tight. But since you’re training for a specific event, it’s not laid out efficiently for that goal.

Thanks for the input.
