For the guy that just wants to train to get stronger, not really think about programming, and not interested in the many challenges, is it advisable to just do:

3/5/1 setup
5s Progression
FSL 5 sets x 5 reps
Deload every 6 weeks
5 Forward / 3 Back

There are so many different variations in the Beyond book, I just want to keep it simple and put the work in.

Definetely advisable. From what i have read from jim he uses this setup for the majority of his power athletes cycles.
