It can work, I am gonna say stop worrying about it! you’ll make it in under. You are only looking to drop a few. Do the friday evening weigh in and then hit a buffet or something.
Haha, not so much worried, I just tend to ask a lot of Q’s.
I dropped 2 lbs. simply from switching my carb sources from grains to fruit/veggies. I guess it’ll be easier to get under than I thought.
OP, I wouldn’t worry about cutting for a first meet. A couple lbs can still make life difficult for you, and if it’s your first meet the added anxiety from cutting isn’t gonna do you any favours. Besides which, trying to drop actual weight instead of just water manipulation doesn’t make too much sense.
The only reason I can really understand to cut weight for a meet is if you’re just over the limit (Or if you’re and Idiot like me, 25lbs over the limit) and want to sneak in to a lighter class, put the weight back on (or again, if you’re me, put about half back on… I really gotta stop cutting weight :P) and lift above the class limit. To be honest, I’d just lift at whatever I weighed in at if I were you.
P.S., Is the meet you’re talking about the Raw meet in Toronto? If so, a few of us from The Anvil will be there to compete and/or handle. If we’re talking about the same meet, feel free to swing by and say hi.

Hey! no guys from the anvil allowed… I don’t want to overly schooled. haha, I think it is as I assumed it is and i’ll be there.
First powerlifting meet for me, but I compete as a strongman… Form and technique are new concepts to me.
Haha, how do you think we feel? We train with Clint every WEEK
Its demoralizing, watching a man bench your best competition squat and say something along the lines of “toss another 50 on, that was easy”…
chrisarmes - Alright, what you say makes sense…I guess it’s just the female in me coming out and wanting to be a different weight, haha. If I do any cutting I’ll wait until after my meet I suppose.
The meet is the raw one in Scarborough (or Toronto, wtv) hosted by 100% RAW Powerlifting. I actually know one of your members (Colin Garnett) and he had mentioned a few of you would be there I will definitely say hi!
Good plan. If you’re in the middle of your weight class, I might even recommend putting a little water bloat on after weigh-ins (guess that’s the 275-308 in me saying there is always more weight to gain lol).

I’m doing the friday night weigh in so I can do just this. Then again, I am looking to come in at around 255 for the 275 class.
Nice. I really wish I could do this meet, it looks like it’ll be a blast.

I think that I can definitely make 132. I probably won’t be much under, but I know I won’t be in the 148’s. But lots of food post-weighing is on the plan
