Cutting A Little...

looking to cut a little for the summer (yes, flame waway), den after summer ghet on the hardcore bulk as paddin for the cold in winter lol.

So, obviously I need to take in less calories… wat wud b a good start on how many less to take in?!

Basically im asking because currently I use Grow! as my protein shake, i was plannin to switch to Metabolic Drive, but dat only wud save bout 100 calories. (when thinkin about it it doesnt actually make that much difference number wise).

Den have to eat less, so how many cals approx wud i need to aim for lower? ive read its about 500…? jus lookin for a good ball park figure to start with really, currently the amount i eat means I gain (as in ghettin bigger + also weight) which is all good, but obviously I understand theres a big difference between cutting / MAINTAINING / bulking… in terms of cals… n obviously i dont wana waste the bit of muscle mass ive put on lol!!! :frowning:

Is english your second language or are you just a lazy bastard who can’t even put in any effort to spell words as simple as ‘then’ correctly.

If the former is applicable, please give us more info. Height, weight, how much are you looking to lose and current bf% would be useful.

If the latter, my suggestion is that you show a bit of fucking respect. Why would you expect the people on this site to take the time to give you a thought out answer if you can’t even be bothered to take the time to write a question in something closely resembling correct and appropriate language.

Using words such as ‘den’ and ‘ghet’ does not make you sound hardcore. It makes you sound like an ignorant little shit who deserves to have the snot knocked out of you prior to having some maturity and language skills kicked so hard up your arse that they might actually make it to your brain. I remember reading another post of his where he talks about eating Burger King 7 days a week for the bump in calories.
He wrote like a moron in that thread and is doing it again here.
There he was bulking and now he is cutting.

My advice to you is to stop eating burgers and fries dyslexia boy.

Good start = Eat less. How many less- you decide. I would guess cutting out the Burger King would be a good start.

Yes it will. If you are only taking one shake a week, maybe not, but numbers do add up. It’s not necessarily important to cut calories on a day-to-day basis but think more long term.

Didn’t you already ask this question above? 500 less sounds ok, but not 500 less than you’re eating now as you are supposedly bulking. So if you ate 500 less than now you’d still be over maintenance (that is if you were “hardcore” bulking it…) and your goal should be to get under maintenance.

Also- and I probably don’t need to mention it as others have clearly covered it- but if you’ve spent any time reading or browsing this forum you’ll notice that we don’t all speak in ebonics. We use real non-appreviated english. Do not attempt to ever post on this forum again until you learn and can apply that.

Its got nothing to do with lazyness, lack of respect, or no grasp of language -simply “not thinking”-ness, (as in typing as I normally would talk / speak etc etc etc) and for that I am sorry to have offended u so. Finally - my thanks to the poster who bothered to reply with substance… The asking for flames was because I know what my goals are, and usually you get all the posts saying you shouldn’t do that, you should do this, etc etc lol. But I know teh basics etc now so I know what I need to be getting back to once Summer is over… (in bout 2 months knowing English weather :|) for now its purely vanity lol. (& to your question, for me a hardcore bulk is just eating every fricking thing in site, because I do find it hard to put on weight…)

Sorry about repeating myself - I currently have a shake in the morning, after working out, and before bed. I was planning to drop the carbs from all my shakes… (PWO, I always have a shake and then a full meal…) I appreciate the comment re: considering calories in the longer term rather than on a day-to-day basis. cutting 500 calories (eg no fast food) + 100 per shake = app. 700 (or 800 on WO days)

Do you have ummm an “estimate” of the amount of calories under I should be consuming?! As obviously it’s different for everyone but an idea would be nice…

Considering also that I plan to do HIIT cardio as well and am working out with 1 minute rest periods… (short sessions however, probably 15 minutes or so of HIIT on a bike…)

Would I need to cut my calories by MORE than 7-800 per day?! (remembering that I’ll be doing cardio as well.)

I obviously don’t want to waste away the small amount of muscle that I’ve achieved!

As another poster mentioned, the number of calories to cut should not be based on how much you are eating at the moment, but on what you want to do.

I assume that on your bulk you were eating above maintenance calories so just cutting a number from your current calories may still be giving you surplus calories.

What you need to do is work out your maintenance calories and then eat less than that. Maybe start at 200 less for the firts week and then decrease that until you are eating about 500 under maintenance (making sure that you adjust your maintenance calories as needed to allow for changes in weight as you cut).

How do you work out maintenance calories I hear you asking, that is the magic questions.

There is a complex calcuation in the ‘carb cycling codex’ thread (do a search), other use methods such as body weight x 16. You have to find one that works for you.
