I didnt watch this season, but i was aware of both guys backgrounds and time on TUF going into the finale.
With that said, Urijah Hall is a moron and has absolutely no fight IQ. He displayed all the tools to win that fight with ease, but didnt put any of them to use. He was too relaxed on the feet, didnt establish the jab or give Kelvin any other reason not to keep coming forward with pressure.
What great striker doesnt use his fucking jab to stop an opponent when he keeps advancing like that? ESPECIALLY when he has such a huge size advantage.
Also, who the fuck did this guy think he was? Anderson Silva? These guys need to realize, there is only one person in the history of MMA who has been successful and been able to pull shit like that off at will, and Urijah is not that guy.
Kelvin nearly got-outwrestled by the striker, did absolutely no damage, but won based on just a little more control.
First, that kid needs to drop to WW. Second, that kid is gonna get ruined by any top 10 WW or MW so it doesnt matter.
This is why i cant watch TUF anymore, they havent produced shit since the third season. And this kid Kelvin is just a bigger Efrain Escudero. Hall was the first guy from TUF in years to get legitimately excited about, but if he doesnt learn some gameplanning and fight IQ, he’ll never be more than a flashy striker.
At least the chicks fight was good, though i was sad to see my girlfriend Meisha gas and lose in the third.
Uriah’s jab was outstanding during the show. I don’t know wtf happened to him.
It’s called he ate a dick.
But that rumor has got me thinking. He does come across as the stubborn type that can’t be swayed unless he wants to be swayed. It just doesn’t add up how he can be firing on nothing against the lack lustre Kelvin. As someone mentioned, he’d get into a frenzy and do a few things and make you think ok… he’s had enough and going to kill him now and then back right off when he saw Kelvin in trouble.
I disagree, i think he was trying to make a statement. I think he was trying to win the fight in Anderson Silva-type fashion, and he failed. because…he’s not Anderson Silva.
I think he wanted to go out there and make it look easy, live up to the hype, and send a message to the rest of the MW’s. Well he chose a pretty damn terrible time to try and make that sort of statement, and he paid for it because the other guy didnt care how he had to do it, he just knew he needed to win.
I could be wrong, but either way, there’s no excusing this. If he was trying to make a point, it was more similar to Overeem/Big Foot rather than Silva/Bonnar.
