What type of stretching do you prefer pre-weight-training?

Static stretching before a workout decreases power and strength, so I don’t recommend it.

As a warm-up I prefer dynamic range of motion drills.

Yes, you could do a beach session at the end of the workout you mentionned. Basically you have to go by feel. If you feel tired after your workout skip the beach session, if you feel okay but not great, go for 8-10 minutes. If you still feel energetic go for 12-15 minutes.

I really liked your last article on Beach Training for Performance Oriented Athletes. My question is, at what point would this be too much when tacked on to one’s regular lifting? I know you said that it is not smart to do the beach work during periods of super-intense weightlifting, which I would assume a Westside template would fall into. If this is too intense, what would be a good example of an upper body strength day look like (in terms of both volume and exercises?

Could you do a beach day for something like this
1- 3 board press
2- DB press
3- T Bar Rows
4- Scarecrows (rear delt work)

Thanks
If muscle loss is not a concern and you want to do a fat loss blitz I’d recommend 2 HIIT sessions (around 15 minutes) per week, 2 low intensity sessions lasting 30-45 minutes and 2 weekly walk of at least 60 minutes. Do not do this for more than 4 weeks straight.

Hey CT:
I was just recently reading your fat loss tips article. I just started trying to cut. I’m about 15% and would love to get to 8%. You state in that article to do the least amount of ESW that is effective and recommend LSD twice a week with walks on the weekend. What are your thoughts on the best ESW scheme if you are “not too concerned” with losing a little muscle? Would you lean towards HIIT or would you just increase the amount of days or do you have something different in mind? Also, how long are your tradional ESW sessions on those off days? Thanks.
CT,

For your bodybuilding block for fast twitch dominant users (in your BBTS book) what diet would you recommend to pack on mass.

Also, how many times would you suggest this block be repeated to get optimal results?

I now always use a carbs rotation diet. The actual quantity of carbs will vary depending on the athlete.

High carb day for hard workout days
Moderate carb day for moderate workout days
Low carb day for no-workout days.

CT,

I was just wndeing if there is by any chance, you continue the pendulum series with a Weightlifting pendulum? Also, culd you provide good links t articles on Bulgarian and Soviet training methods?

CT,

I have almost completed 3 weeks of a bicep specialisation that you outlined on a Prime Time thread a few weeks ago.

Mon: heavy - 4-6 reps
Wed: tri-set
Fri: single set to failure with holds and then negatives.

From looking at your work and the details you provided regarding emphasis rotation I believe that you would say to stop after 3 weeks of specialising. I just wanted to know what you would suggest for biceps training after the specialisation?

Thanks
Dan
