Crow: The Future 200lbs. NAS Champ Log

So some of your weights are in kgs and some are in lbs?

kpsnap, yeah I keep my olympic lifts and squats in kilos because I use kilo plates. All other lifts I use standard plates so there are in pounds. The kilo thing is my inner “elitist” olympic weightlifter mentality.

My Bulgurian approach to the 5/3/1 program is beginning to take a toll on me. Todays cleans were very disappointing. Both my elbows/bicep tendons are killing me. Yet back squat and bench press numbers were excellent. Snatch work is going good, but the clean is very hard for me. I’m having difficulty catching with my elbows high. Deadlift is continuing to improve!

OCTOBER 14, 2010

Complete Rest! Its weird I want to train, but need to recover.

sorry i’m late to the party. looks like you’re already doing 5/3/1, so I’ll skip the kill and eat you part.
welcome

Sorry my office is getting over hauled at work so I’ve been away from my computer for a week. I share an office room with 3 other guys and its pretty run down. Our new office is going to be sick! New desks, painted walls, a sofa to lounge in, and the ultimate: the carpet is going to be artifical turf with 4 holes punched in the floor for putting. Thats right a built-in practice putting green in our office! Its nice to have a man cave at work!

Heres last weeks training:

How did I miss your log?

I was going to ask the same question as Snap but you already answered the lb/kg question. Fortunately, being Canadian, I bilingual so I can follow along

I have a bit of love for strong man stuff and have competed in a couple myself. Sadly I sucked :frowning: I was neither big enough nor strong enough at the time being about 120lbs.

Where are you able to train the heavier O lifts?

I’m lucky enough to train at a gym that has an OLY platform and bumper plates and “allows” true weightlifting.

NOV 9, 2010 Complete Rest

Impressive training Sir. Don’t think I could do it everyday like that without hurting myself. The rest day was well deserved.

I haven’t seen your log till today. Nice to have another OL competitor here. Is that low elbow problem on the cleans persistent, or just a temporary hitch?

Carl, the elbow is better. I think I was bending my elbows to early and stressing the biceps tendon too much. I’ve fixed that. I’m getting used to the high frequency also.

Are you working up to a daily max on front and back squats? then taking a percentage and doing 3 sets of 3 of it or 5 sets of 2?

If so what percentages are you using and how is it working out for you?

and are you just taking rest days when and if you need them?

Great training BTW.

Yeah, kinda. I’m trying the method that John Broz employs with his guys. On the back/front squats and the snatch/clean I go to a daily max, then back off 20 kg and put in work. I will do sets of 1-3, if the weight gets “easy” I will increase it. Currently I’m shooting for 10 total training reps within that range. I want to build up to 20-30 reps. I’m using strict 5/3/1 for the bench press, deadlift, and push press.
