Critique New Diet

Whats up,
My name is Jim and I’m a 21 year old college student. For the past few months I have been trying to add some mass in hopes of someday stepping on a stage. Before I started this diet I did a 6 day a week volume training split. For the last few months I have been doing Doggcrapp training for the recommended 3 days a week. This is my diet.

Meal 1. 2 cups oats mixed w/ 2-3 scoops protein (100 g carbs around 70 grams protein)
Meal 2. 2 cups oats mixed w/ 2-3 scoops protein
Meal 3. 2 cups oats mixed w/ 2-3 scoops protein
Meal 4.2 cups oats mixed w/ 2-3 scoops protein
Meal 5. Top Round Steak
Meal 6. Protein Shake

What do you guys think about this? I will include a before picture (June) and a present picture.

I will be posting my present pics after i take them. Also, I stop eating carbs at 7 and I also eat another meal before bed. usually steak, chicken, or another shake.

Too much protien from supplements.
need healthy fats and we can defintely tell you like oats.
read some more of Berardi’s articles.

No vegetables?

No fruit?

Too much oatmeal.

Too big of a reliance on protein powder.

Odd meal timing issues - why stop carbs at 7pm? What is the purpose really?

No mention of any PWO nutrition.

You smile too much. No one is that happy. Unless they are in bed with Jamie Eason.

Anything else you want us to critique?

Oh- is that a little 2lb pink dumbbell on the floor behind you?

If it’s any consolation your floors are really nice but your TV is pretty small. Time for an upgrade.

Needs food.

i didnt know you could over rely on powder… why is this bad?

It’s not bad really, just better to try and get more of your protein from whole food sources. More for the other benefits from the food than just the protein. It’s also good to vary the protein sources.

There are varying opinions on this though. You’ll probably find just as many people who will tell you that you should drink half your calories. Dave Barr being one of them.

The take-away theme here is just to vary your intake. You seem stuck in a protein powder/oatmeal rut. I can’t imagine you sticking with this plan for too long before you lose interest. If you are eating to gain- there is no better time than this to enjoy all different kinds of healthy food. Of course you may be perfectly happy with this plan.

Plus- as your momma always (hopefully) told you- you need to eat your vegetables man!!

Its called health brotha. You missing out on a ton of micro nutrients etc…

A multi vit only goes so far. and should be a supplement to a soldiu diet as should protein powders they supplement a good diet.

What use is being huge if you lack nutrients to even be a healthy individual that may lead to helth probs down the road. FOOD = GOOD

i will try to include more whole foods in my diet… i think i am addicted to the oats/protein mix. I have been eating it for most of my meals since the start of summer.

He’s jist givin ya a rough time lol.

Don’t bother taking new pics with a straight face and a white sheet background, he’ll probably enlarge it and ask you why your nose hairs are so long and what’s that stain in the upper right quadrant of the sheet.

Nice house/cabin. I like the floors. I totally agree with eegrnms on the tv, time to get rid of that little thing. (and the pink DB)

i can’t get rid of the DB i use it for shrugs

oh are you doing the 1 million pink dumbbell shrug workout too? i love that one. i got hyoooooge on it

You’ve a got a pretty decent foundation started. Eventually you may want to give some extra attention to your calves and your lateral and posterior delts. It looks like you have EZ grow quads like mine.

Oh yeah, I’m with these guys on the whole food thing. Not as convenient, but, I like to get probably 80-90% of my calories from whole food and maybe a bit more than that for protein. Not saying anything magic about this, just my preference.
