Craig Titus Prison Transfer

Happens all the time around here and goes both ways. I remember reading the comments section in an article here on prison training. Good article btw, anyway, someone jumped in and stated that these are the guys who rape our wives and murder people, or something to that extent. Then someone else jumped in and made an analogy comparing the act of committing a crime like murder to failing to stop and help someone with a flat tire. That should give you some idea on how some people on here think.
If I were Crag titus, I’d probably be trying to escape too, better than lethal injection.

This shows a lot about your character.

White COs, always have a chip on their shoulder (usually star HS football players, who are too dumb to play college or really aren’t that good, come from middle class families and didn’t make anything of themselves). Not sure why this is, maybe because they feel like they’re privileged and shouldn’t be working in a place filled with “scum.” Most of the Hispanic and Black COs I know are happy for a job.

This shows alot about how you “think”

Every time I walk into prison, and a white CO is assigned to me, always talking shit about the prisoners. Get a black CO, or a Mexican CO and they’re going to talk to me about what I’m gonna talk to about the prisoners, they stay quiet, or they talk about sports. Sometimes they’ll talk about their families. But, not White COs, always with a snarky comment.
That post is a big load of turd right there. Generalizing white CO’s as all having a chip on their shoulder… yeah, my ass.

What that I haven’t met one white CO that was happy to have a job, and didn’t act like they had a chip on their shoulder. Hell, even when I visit prisoners I ge worse treatment from the white COs compared to the black and Mexican COs, even the Jewish guys treat me better than the white guys.

What are you doing in prisons all of the time?

Psych or Criminology?

Okay, maybe I have to preface that I’m talking about the ones I have dealt with (I’m friends with some of them, mind you)…as I suppose it wouldn’t be obvious that I wouldn’t talk about COs I don’t know. And, I didn’t generalize anything, every single white CO (I know!) seems like he picked up how to act from Percy from the Green Mile.

The whole episode is summed up at the end of the final video when the guard asks “any injuries?” and Titus, who is naked, looks down and says “Just my pride”.

I read that Titus’s transfer was initiated in response to an alleged planned escape.

The security around him is just insane but they obviously have a procedure for situations like this and are leaving nothing to chance.
Regardless of whether it was excessive or not, their tactics were still complete shit. One example would be the guard unlocking the door and then turning his back towards the prisoner inside for several long moments.
You don’t know shit, dude. You are criticizing a tactic of a profession that you know nothing about. That is probably the hundredth time they’ve done that: they know what they are doing.

And his back was turned because the 2-3 guys went in their and secured Craig successfully.

No, I do it as devotion. I help with prison Mass once a week, and a RCIA class before Mass everyweek if I can make it.

Fair enough.

young white COs tend to have a chip on their shoulder which is what pretty much all the guys I saw in that video were. I understand that these guys have a dangerous job, but it is just like the cop that comes up to you or pulls you over and he has prick written all over him. Convicts know that guards with a chip on their shoulder have no confidence in themselves and overcompensate by being outwardly tough. THAT is what creates the problems in the end. At that point all a guy has left is his dignity and respect and if you take that from him, you are pretty much setting yourself up for problems.
Pretty much makes sense that young inexperienced guys have no confidence in themselves hence the need to ‘act’ tough esp. in a prison where there are real bad bastards eye balling you!

I have no opinion on the ‘white’ part of your comment as we come from different countries.

I agree that when a guy looses his dignity the prison authorities are setting themselves up for bigger problems because its then the con has nothing else to loose.

Respect is another issue because this is something you earn and are not automatically entitled to. So when you have a prisoner who has murdered somebody, respect from CO’s, I expect is going to be non-existent and is probably replaced by fear/disgust/hate. Thats a straight up recipe for tension right there.
You’re coming from the wrong school of thought on this. You give the prisoners respect, they are doing their bid for their injustice, doesn’t mean we should treat them disrespectfully.
You may be ‘told’ as a CO to give prisoners respect but that is completely different from what a CO ‘personally’ feels about the prisoners under his care/charge. This in turn would result in different treatment meted out to prisoners by individual CO’s (some CO’s are pricks while others are fair) and judging by some responses here the ‘young white CO’ appears to be the main antagonist to prisoners.

It is not my opinion that prisoners ‘should’ be treated disrespectfully, I am just playing devils advocate here and suggesting a reason why some CO’s might look down on the prisoners.

What would happen if you were a white Jewish CO?

Can Jews be white?

I’m so confused with all this…

Really i dont give a shit about how people in prison are treated. IMO prison is way to easy. They have technology, tv, PCs, education, they get paid for their work, the list goes on. Complete bullshit. Depending on the severity of the prison and the inmates, i believe prison needs to be revamped.

No outside contact with anyone not related to the law system. No family, i dont care if your mom fucking died. You did the crime now live with it.

No sharing cells, no congregations, no meeting areas, no playing together, none of that. Complete isolation for everyone. 1 cell 4 walls, no window. you are allowed to leave your cell 1 time a day and escorted outside in a small fenced in cage where you can do whatever the fuck you want for 30 minutes. You are allowed 1 shower a WEEK. again on a schedule, showering alone.

If IFFFF you serve part of your sentence without any issues then you are allowed to make license plates or do laundry or whatever the hell menial lowly labor they can think of and you will not ever get a DIME for it. You will be happy to just be out of your cell for a few more hours a day.

No continuing education to make you better. WTF. You committed RAPE, MURDER, you are not going to get an education on my damn tax dollars.

So no i dont really give a damn if some COs treat the prisoners like shit. Good.

Overkill? Those guards are being meanies? Boo hoo. Titus is scum. He is not a good person who made a stupid mistake but someone who just isn’t a good person period. If someone has a problem with how he is being treated I can only say two things:

 1. It’s a hell of a lot better than his victim was treated.

 2. No one forced him to commit a crime that put him in that situation.

The real crime is that his wife is eligible for parole next year.

Who let the 13-year old in here? Your entire philosophy of how prisons should be run would be the absolute WORST possible practice if your goal is to deter criminal recidivism.

Ridiculous. Everyone in jail didn’t rape and kill someone. You sound like someone mostly clueless about how screwed up and often wrong our own judicial system is.

So, what you’re saying is you want to spend more money to put everyone in a Max Security prison when we’re already over populated using medium and minimum security prisons…interesting, because that will save the tax payers money.

So they man is doing his bid and now we just don’t give a fuck about him? Who cares if they mistreat him? I hope you never go to jail.

My best friend spent a year in the Federal Penn on gun charges that were eventually overturned on appeal and even at his sentencing, the Federal judge let it be known that it was bullshit. Without going into a lot of detail, my buddy is an ex-Ranger who got killed TWICE in combat and resuscitated defending this country. Every guard in there knew that if he fucking decided to, they were dead and he could walk out the door. His charges were non-violent and he was a model prisoner, but I guess someone like mochamarshmallow99 feels that regardless, he wasn’t deserving of respect.
