A lot of people talk about cardio leading to elevated cortisol, but how vigorous does the cardio have to be? Does even walking at a relatively normal pace for an hour really induce so much cortisol release that we need a P/C drink afterwards? Any good studies on intensity vs. cortisol that someone can refer me to?
Cortisols levels rise not only when doing cardio, they rise as a result of weight training also. That's why you sometimes see the advice to limit your workout to 1 hour only.
I don't think walking for an hour will lead to high cortisol though.
