Cooking Omega 3's

I have read recently that omega 3’s are fairly sensitive to heat and as such it is not recommended to cook with flax oil because the omega 3’s will be destroyed.

My question is this, grass fed beef is supposed to be higher in omega 3’s but if I cook it anyway are all of those omega 3’s destroyed? Same question for eggs.

Is there a preferred method for preparing these foods to preserve the omega 3 content?

It depends on the source. Flax seed oil has a smoke point of 225 degrees, but walnut oil (which is also polyunsaturated and contains omega-3s) has a smoke point of 320, similar to extra virgin olive oil.

It seems like unless you overcook those foods until they’ll as hard as a hockey puck, there isn’t anything to worry about.

Cool thanks man.

Anyone else care to weigh in on this?
