Conservatives Rejecting Census

#1

"Contrary to historical trends, some of the toughest challenges facing the agency responsible for measuring the nation's population are not from counting the traditionally undercounted groups such as African-Americans and Latinos. Instead, a new and growing threat to an accurate national head count is coming from anti-government conservatives who may not fill out their forms to protest against â??Big Brotherâ?? in Washington.

â??There's a general distrust of the federal government at every level, starting with Congress and the president, all the way down to executive branch agencies,â?? says Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Midland."

Who is John Galt?

I have yet to open the Census mailing packet. So does this mean liberals are rejecting the Census?

#3

No...it must mean that you're a conservative and just don't know it yet.

#4

I actually was really conservative in high school. Now I'm in...c...college...holy shit! Beck was right!

#5

NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

#6

Well I am more of the classical liberal or Anarcho-Capitalist matters who I am talking to. I am not sure what Census you are talking about :).

We're slowly reaching a point where people simply don't want any part of this system. Out of indignation and disgust, they simply drop out or do the absolute minimum to avoid going to jail.

When people see that no matter who they elect and what they say matters in the slightest, when they see that the central government grows like a weed and debt soars no matter what they do, they drop out.

Hmmm...what do our leaders think will happen when the best of their serfs refuse to function any more? What are they counting on?

Who is John Galt?

#8

I threw mine out. Then I thought: Won't this mean less representation for conservative districts?

#9

Mine is sitting on my kitchen table. I will send it back with the numbers of houshold members and nothing else, I will also attach a letter detailing why I only gave them the information they have a right to have and why the other information is none of thier god damn business.

Actually, article 1 sc 2 says, Congress has the power to enact the census "in such manner as they shall by law direct." They could ask for the total number of ball hairs in the household if they please.

So, as a constitutional matter, you're wrong; however, I agree that the census is stupid.

#11

So if they requested your cut out your balls and mail them back, that wouldn't violate the constitution?

These necessary and proper arguments have gotten way out of hand.

#12

Thats why i filled mine out.

#13

I live in Boston so it's staying in the trash. LOL.

#14

Can I go to jail for not filling it out? I remember getting it a couplke weeks ago, but I don't know where it is now. I either threw it away, or it's under a stack of something in my apartment. Guess I should start looking.

#15

Nothing will give you street cred like getting locked up for not filling in the census.

#16

The ads all say that people should fill out the census and send it in because it determines how much funding certain areas get, electoral votes, etc....How about coupling that with the process some of us just took part in called paying taxes. We put into the system and should be the only ones counted for anything other than a straight headcount.

#17

same here!!

#18

I filled mine out. Man if I am going to pay through the nose in taxes I am going to get my fair share. I want to make sure Texas has more representatives than California and New York. We are going to see a big change in Representation for Texas.

#19

I think it would be better if Congressional districts were based on number of persons paying at least $1 per year in income taxes.
