Consequences of Energy Stupidity

http://www.qando.net/?p=7116

China is doing deals for the oil from Coal Sands in Canada. The US is backing away due to the Carbon Footprint that fossil fuels generate and lead to global warming. Good fucking God the stupidity is amazing.

And it makes so much sense too, since the CO2 emissions will be much lower when the Chinese burn it instead of US companies.

Was this a “China is filled with liars” joke or a statement about the environmental efficiency of American firms?

It is simply nonsense, even if one accepts the man made global warming narrative, to let the Chinese do it. The athmosphere knows no borders, whether the Chinese burn the fuel or the Americans simply does not matter.

The EPA will sooner or later make CO2 emissions so expensive in the US that all the manufacturing firms will leave and go to places where they simply do not care.

CO2 emmission wise that makes no difference whatsoever, but it could be the final nail in the coffin for lot of American industries.

Extracting from the oil sands requires a ppb of oil to be at a certain level to be profitable. It is very capital intensive. That being said, yes, retarded regulations are going to destroy this country. I am huge on natural gas and the administration is somehow blind to the fact that it is a good fuel, we have a lot of it, and it is very carbon neutral. You can power vehicles on liquified natural gas, it works very well for fleets especially.

The real solution is an integration of nuclear, nat gas, oil, coal, localized renewables. For example, would you put solar panels in pittsburgh? Hell no, thats just stupid. However, a town in arizona, it could be efficient. Same thing with hydro electric. Politicians really look at this as a black and white issue ie, NO CARBON, ALL RENEWABLES. They really fail to see that alot of renewables are very very inefficient without generous subsidies. Biofuels made from corn ethanol are extremely cost ineffective. However, ethannol from sugarcane is a good bit less capital intensive. Its similar to the bodyweight vs weights argument. Just use both.

All public transportation buses in Vienna run on natural gas.

It is very cheap and the fact that the bus drivers no longer can steal diesel to run their private cars makes it even cheaper.

Want efficient energy? Nuclear… seriously…

as for cars, the european turbo diesels already meet american 2020 goals…

frack, Volkwagen is releasing a 170 Mpg car next year thats the size of a smart…
