Confused on Types of Lifting

I have thought of this a few times as I am 6ft 1 and I see guys lifting similar to me at like 5ft ish but they use a wide sumo stance and it does not even look like they have moved the bar yet they lift pound for pound the same as me.

Am i overlooking it or is there something in that, just I watched a few meets where guys do a very wide sumo stance and they are quite short and the bar does not really go that far compared to a tall guy lifting equal load three times the distance…

maybe I am just ranting…

any thoughts on this…

You may not be able to out deadlift those guys but you more than likely can out rebound them.
