Conditioning Ideas For Athletes

Hey Paul,
If someone was looking to lift 3-4 times a week, how would you structure some conditioning workouts? I would like to lose some fat and maintain my muscle and I get pretty bored doing steady state cardio. Usually I play pickup basketball but sometimes I find it hard on my knees the next day which could interfere with lifting. I was looking to do conditioning anywhere between 2-4 times a week.
