I disagree that officers should only be taken from the NCO pools. Officers are people too and they do make mistakes. The thing is that when an officer makes a mistake everyone hears about it but when a noncommissioned member makes a mistake no one hears about it. An officer could make a spelling mistake and it would be known throughout the noncommissioned ranks while a Sgt could kill someone and no one would know except the people involved.
