Competing with a Ruptured Rectus?

I Would appreciate some pearls of wisdom from anyone who’s ever competed at a bodybuilding contest here.

I ruptured my rectus femoris 7 years ago playing football (soccer) before I ever had any thoughts about bodybuilding. It healed at the time but only since my legs have become more developed I have noticed a dip in the centre of the muscle.

Would this abnormality make it not worth even thinking of competing in a bodybuilding contest? (It will obviously become a LOT more prominent when cutting fat)

I have provided some pictures although crappy quality and above desired body fat make it harder to make out! if you guys could let me know what you think it’d be much appreciated.

It’s noticeable, but only really because you pointed it out. If competing will bring you some joy and accomplishment then do it - sod your weaknesses, we all have them.

^Agreed.

There are guys who compete that are missing their entire leg, as well as wheelchair bodybuilding… no reason you can’t compete if you want to.

Every bodybuilder has weak areas. How they pose and stand on stage is meant to hide those and emphasize strong points.

I’ve never known a judge to hold an obvious physical ‘deformity’ (for lack of a better word) against a competitor. My buddy Phil shattered his lower leg (17 breaks) in a motorcycle accident a few years back. There’s no hiding that it looks quite different from his other one. Hasn’t stopped him from winning two pro cards.

That’s really awesome.

I saw the thread title in the forum page and thought it would’ve said “rectum.”

Wow, sorry about the ‘ruptured rectum’ confusion! Lol
Stu: thanks that’s incredible to hear and must have taken a lot of hard work, very inspirational and is just going to make me work even harder to compensate for my weaknesses in all other areas

Everyone else thanks for the advice this is not what I was expecting with judging focusing on symmetry etc. this gives me lots of motivation to get my ass in gear and work towards a contest
