Clearing Your Face During the Jerk

Powerlifter here still trying to get the snatch and C&J down. One issue I have is that I sometimes get the bar too close to my face during the jerk and end up scraping my chin or nose, and also throwing off the bar path. Is there a certain cue that use can use (other than “Keep your face out of the way”) to make sure this doesn’t happen? Or are my chin and nose just too big for weightlifting? :wink:

Your nose? You must be looking down.

Start the dip with the elbows at 45 degrees or higher, keep your spine extended with the cervical spine slightly extended, head up.
