Clean & Press: How Many Presses Per Clean?

I’m coming back from an injury that’s kept me out of the gym for almost a year now. The clean & press is an exercise that is comfortable for my body and that I enjoy doing as well. However, I’ve never incorporated it full-time into a workout.

My primary focus is shoulder mass & strength, so my question is… do I clean once and press 8 times, or clean AND press 8 times? Is there a benefit to one over the other?

1: to work on pressing strength - clean once OR take out of rack

2: for overall bad-assness - clean each rep

If you only want Delt mass then just clean it once then press 8 times. But for Delt gains AND other gains, especially Upper Trap mass, then clean and press 8 times.

real bodybuilders dont do cleans

indeed, you can’t do ‘elite’ exercises if you are a bodybuilder

Both ways are fine. Personally I clean when I clean and press when I press.
