Cinderella Man

So it appears I am the first to comment on this film that seems fit for any T-reader…

It was an excellent film and a great, great (though somewhat familiar, albeit this time true) story. Beyond the boxing theme was the context of The Great Depression. This movie dedicates a strong portion of its time to depicting this period and helping the audience – most of whom cannot fathom what it was like at the time – gain a slight touch of the sense of despair felt by, well, just about everyone at the time.

Crowe was great, as was Zellwiger (sp), but Paul Giamatti is – yet again – the scene stealer. He’s got a way with his eyes and a great voice and delivery – particularly when expressing some form of disgust…

I recommend it to all here, as I assume we all share an admiration for everyday underdogs who work tirelessly in the face of pain and struggle, who are driven by their love and dedication to their family, and who stick to their principles in the worst of times.
