chlorogenic acid and protein utilization

I was looking over that coffee study in Amsterdam that surmised coffee might reduce diabetes through chlorogenic acid, which inhibits glucose secretion in the liver. I’m still puzzled by the study, but in reading up on chlorogenic acid, it seems to work by inhibiting not the absorption of dietary sugars but the formation of glucose from proteins and fats. Maybe supplementing with it (or just decaf coffee) would be of use to bodybuilders, who want to make maximum use of their protein, and possibly reduce its insulin effect at times of low insulin sensitivity.
