China's One Child Policy/Earthquake

Even having lived there for a short time it’s easy to forget just how very very strange it is in China.

Brief Rundown: The Party is sending doctors into the earthquake affected regions of China to perform reverse vasectomy operations (or the female equivalent) on the people whose only children were killed in the earthquake. How nice?

It sent a shiver down my spine. Do Americans, as a whole, despise authority? Or is it just me?

I think the Chinese maintain a eugenics program as well. I saw something else on the news about a mobile organ-harvesting van used on convicts.

How… nice?

Were the vasectomies voluntary in the first place?

I’m not going to place judgment though. I see too many people with more children than they can feed and I wonder whether or not they should even breed in the first place.

Rational planning gone mad…exactly what I’d expect of a Communist government/collectivist society. Creepy shit if you ask me.
