Charlton Heston Dead

He was one of my heroes. A great, iconic actor and one of the last men of an age that appears to have past. He will be sorely missed.

This thread will probably turn into a train wreck, and I’m sure he wouldn’t give a damn what his detractors would think of him.

Rest in peace, old man.

Chuck got a bit wacky in later life, but always had a great sense of humor.

Ben Hur was one of the greatest films ever.

That man was one of the best supporters of civil rights this nation has ever had.

In every way. Marched with MLK and stood up for the second ammendment. Too bad too many will remember him as some gun-tottin’ death merchant or some shit.

Wow, I didn’t know this had happened. I guess I always saw Chuck as timeless. I somehow never really gave much thought to the old man actually dying. He was a great actor, and a great man with a lot of integrity, regardless of politics. He spoke his mind but never really resorted to rhetoric or mud slinging. And you knew exactly where he stood. He will be missed.

A real class act. Great actor, stoic and rugged. They don’t make em like that anymore.

                  Integrity.

I remember he was a guest on Saturday Night Live once. Great sense of humor.

Awesome guy, one of the VERY BEST in pretty much every sense of the word. I’m sorry to see him go.

Loved his old movies especially during the seventies. Soylent Green, The Omega Man (better then I am Legend IMO), Planet of the Apes. Lot of good westerns as well. RIP Mr. Heston.

http://www.newsfromme.com has some nice reminiscences about Heston. I found them enlightening.
