cardio question

so, I lift weights, and am at the gym 5 days per week. However, I am not sure of a proper cardio routine that would help me lose the gut that I have. I am 30, 175 lbs, not sure of the body fat, but have a decent upper body/arm.

I want to add a cardio component in the morning, and I really don’t know anything other then, get on the treadmill and keep the heartrate at 75% for optimal fat burning.

Is it safe to assume your eating clean? You can run yourself ragged and won’t get lean if you aren’t eating properly.
