Carbs and Food Labels

When you look at a food label and it states this food has say 4 grams of total carbs… but under total carbs it has 1 gram of fiber and 0 grams of sugars… where are the other 3 grams of carbs? I notice this on a lot of food labels and was curious. I’ve also noticed this with fat.

Starches bro. Essentially the same thing as a sugar its a simple carb. Maltodextrin for example is starch. If it aint fiber or sugar its a starch.

Correct. To see how many complex carbs are in a particular food, you subtract the Total carbs from the grams of sugar. say for instance gatorade powder, per serving it has 13g of carbs and 13g of sugar. This indicates that there are not complext carbs present and only simple carbs. In this case, sucrose and dextrose.

That makes perfect sense, thanks guys.
