Carbonated Drinks and Losing Wind

Iv herd form some people that by drinking carbonated drinks it makes you loose your wind when running or doing other sorts of activities. Is there any truth to this or is it just bull?

I think it does if you are a long distance runner.I really don’t think it will affect you as a weightlifter unless you are drinking over 3 or 4 a day.
