Paul, a lot of people will have what’s essentially a P+F meal with a few green veggie (i.e., high fiber) carbs. John Berardi of P+F/P+C fame has siaid that you can have up to 5g of carbs in a P+F meal. 5g, however, doesn’t allow you much wiggle room.
If you’re talking much more than that, it’s just a matter of degree; i.e., the more carbs, the more you’re eliciting an insulin response that assists in storing the fat you took in.
