About 5 months ago I injured my back by slipping on some ice. I’ve seen a chiropractor and it has improved, but I still have a slight pain. However, everytime I attempt to squat or deadlift it kills me. Are there any worthwhile leg exercises besides squatting for leg size/growth?
I had a disc removed that was herniated 3 years ago. I find that box squats and hack squats are tolerable for me. I also do leg presses. Not as good as regular squats but better than nothing. And I can go fairly heavy with these exercises also, ie, 500 pound hacks for 10 reps. No back pain with these. Also, Ian King in his book “Get Buffed” recommends leg presses as an alternative to deadlifts for hip dominant days.
