Can You Have Too Much Splenda?

Is use quite a bit of the stuff. I love it. Great on cottage cheese. Do any of you know if it is bad to eat too much? (couple spoonsful/day)

My understanding is that sucralose is refined sugar processed into an form that can barely be metabolized, so in theory, it shouldn’t be a problem. Studies have shown that massive doses can cause problems in lab mice, but like the old saccharine studies, they involved amounts that could only be consumed via forced feeding. And Splenda only contains trace amounts of sucralose, most of the bulk is corn-based fillers.

Everything in moderation.

Sucralose is supposed to be like 600 times sweeter than table sugar. That’s why there’s so little of it in splenda. Like supabeast said, the rest of it are just fillers (maltodextrin and dextrose).

I’d start to get concerned or at least consider cutting back at over 1-2 cups/day.

A few spoonfuls or even 1/2 to 1 cup I wouldn’t worry personallyalthough that would be an extra 50-100kcal depending on if you use the packets or granular.
