Calves: The Medial Head

i feel my legs and calves are pretty strong but i want to increase the size of the medial head of my gastroc…i notice that fast guys/ explosive athletes have well developed medial heads…what are the best ways to target them?

Aside from choosing the right parents?

Standing calf raises are the best way I know.

g-e-n-e-t-i-c-s…if you don’t have the right genes, nothing will help you…

Ok, seriously…try donkey calf raises or standing calf raises with your toes pointed outwards to focus on the medial head of the gastroc.

If you point your toes inward, it will shift the focus to the lateral head.

And seated calf raises will focus more on the soleus.

I think you answered your own question.

Train for speed/explosion, sprints, jumps, etcetera and such.

I do standing calf raises with a slight inward point to my toes, then raise up on the outside of the foot [pinky toes] at the top transfer weight to the inside foot [big toe]
