Buying Chains for PL in Australia?

#1

I live sydney I recently bought a pair of chain mates from elitefts. Can some one tell me who knows of a place where I can get some heavy duty 5/8 type chains not that light weight domestic shit. I also would appreciate if some one could tell me the companys name of the shop and the suburb thanks.

I thought the EliteFTS chain set came with 3/8" and 5/8" chains

I am not sure what you are refering to I bought this at elitefts. http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=298&pid=2815

Look around at tractor and boat supply stores. Most of them will look at you like you're crazy but you'll find some eventually.

#5

I do not go to hardware stores much so rather than wasting my time looking for heavy duty chains can some one direct me to one thanks.

Ah but you are looking to go to a store and buy them.... got ya. Can't be of help there.

I am from Australia so buying chains from elitefts is not such a good idea the cost of freight would be to high. Plus I do not see why I should have to buy from a gym place they must be making a decent markup price from selling the chains. If I can not find chains I will probably be buying them at getstrength.com AUS & NZ answer to elitefts.

#9

Are the any Aussie's (sydney siders) on this board I am thinking of popping in at bunnings warehouse.

#10

Bunnings has some, but they generally don't stock big or cheap chains, unfortunately.

#11

Look for a Blackwoods or a Gasweld in your area, They should have what you need otherwise they will point you in the right direction.

#12

I did not realize buying chains would be this much of a hassle. if I can not buy them locally cheap I will swallow my pride and by them at getstrength.com they a have 45kg chain set 100lbs for 324.95 NZD aussie dollar shits over kiwi dollar but freight will hurt a bit.

#13

Blackwoods store's are only located in country areas but casweld you can buy online its not that cheap and it in a bucket. I would imagine that I would have to cut the chain with bolt cutters for the disired length which is 5 foot for me here a link if any aussies want to check it out.

I bought some from a crowd at Taren Point called HES - Hoisting Equipment specialists

bought two sets, one was 1.80m and weighs 19.5kgs (is 10.7kgs per metre) so two is almost 40kgs
and the smaller one was 1.80 and weighs bang on 10kgs so 20 kgs a pair, cost $267.80 for the pair.

they also have lighter stuff but had got some 5.5kg 1.80m from mitre 10, and have the usesless stuff from Bunnings

went to HES when I was using 8 chains and getting only around 43kgs.

they are also a nice yellow, and yes people at Fitness First do stare..

where do you train, and are you competeing, I have been out of the loop for a while, been having fun throwing
