Buying an ERG

I can Google as well as anyone, but has anyone bought an ERG and had a good experience with the company? My son is probably going to do competitive rowing at prep school next year (Freshman) and there’s no time like the present to start.

Second on Concept 2. I rowed in college and these were great, albeit painful, machines.

I spent 4 years on my college crew team using Concept 2 models and would recommend them. They are also the ones used by Crash-B the indoor rowing competition.

Out of curiosity, why the concept 2 over a water rower?
Also for you rowers, does a machine actually feel anything like real rowing?
