I’m still gettin to know this site, when can someone send private msgs? I wish I had more people around like you for inspiration! Literally no women I know are interested in this stuff and out of respect for my husband I don’t form close friendships with men even though I told him I just might have to cuz it sucks having no one close by to discuss stuff with lol.
Haley, I haven’t tried to send a PM in awhile, but I think that function is broken. Maybe they decided to disconnect it. Thank you for trying! I get ya about trying to find other women to talk to about lifting. There are several other women in my gym who I talk to, and I’ve noticed more women in the free weights in the last few years. I hope it’s changing. I don’t come trough these logs as often as I used to, but now that you friended me, you’ll show up in my hub and I can see when you’ve posted. I hear you on the male friendships too, it’s best to keep it light.

As for food, we all appreciate food porn around here! YUM.

Yeah since I go to the military base gym the men run the place and the women usually take the classes or on the cardio machines. The FEW women I see lifting here n there are pretty stuck up cuz they think cuz they actually do lift they are better than everyone… The part I don’t get is they seem to make NO progress lol and just wear tight little clothes to show off their chunkiness… Tried going to the local gym, planet fitness, worst gym ever!! I brought in a jump rope and they wouldn’t even let me use it. It’s a small machine catered gym and its the only affordable gym in town so just dealing with the gym on post.

I’m not great at these forum things but I hope I’ll have some progress to show off in a few weeks!

Have a great weekend!
I am going to Planet Fitness right now, yes it is the worst “gym” ever!! I find it hard to even call it a gym… IMO it is just a fitness center…

50 pounds is awesome though you can’t feel bad about that!! My goal is to do the same over the next 8 months to a year…
Thanks yeah it took me about 8 months but I really didn’t try to hard like I am now. Now I’m more focused on nutrition and training properly to reach the goals. The 50 was just calories in calories out. Which is also why I’m nit satisfied with the 50lb results. I call myself a smaller version of fat lol. What changes are u making to meet that goal?
I am much more focused then I have ever been… I am hitting the gym 5 days a week cuing calories but increasing protein at the same time… I am high protein moderate carb low fat right now at about 2400 cals… I have dropped about 10 pounds in the last month… Now I am starting to increase my cardio during my workouts even if that means cutting the lifting down a bit…
Same here so focused! Can I ask why the low fat? I would never cut down lifting! One way I include cardio in my workouts though is 30 second jump rope between sets. It all adds up. I love eating higher fat though! Will never turn to low fat I’d much rather cut the carbs. I can still have berries daily and a potato when I choose along with green veggies :). I try to limit dairy but eat it here n there.

One of today’s meals… Chicken salad I made wrapped in butter lettuce. Dinner was leftover chicken, asparagus, zucchini stir fry side of white sweet potato with a little butter :).

I just feel I get better energy from carbs than fat… I have been trying to get most of my carbs from brown rice… I have to monitor my weights because I can get out of control, I’ll be in there 2-3 hours… I am trying to get all my weights done in 1 hour and fifteen min and I try to do short rest… 30 seconds between sets and some giant sets or super sets… Next Monday I am going to go back to one muscle group per day because I feel like I can really fatigue that muscle if I focus on it…

If you find a system that gets results for your butt, let me know! My butt stays the same whether I’m 9 months prego or 99lbs after a bad case of the flu.

There aren’t many women who work out where I do either. The few I see are crossfit strays who got lost or something. I’d be thrilled if a woman came in who wanted to talk about workouts and maybe even workout together. Unlikely. So I try to strike up conversations with the older guys at the gym. They seem open to a little chatting. All the other guys are focused only on their workouts or on their man friends.

Looking forward to reading about your progress!

Haha I have a bigger butt than some thank goodness which is why i want to keep it that way! I do like the program I listed above but since then have read this book by bret contreras strong curves, maybe you should check it out! I like what he has to say and love the exercises he uses! There is a workout strictly for lower body focus on glutes. He also has a lot of articles on the web that are a good read too.

Yeah the men I tend to be able to make conversation with end up tryin to flirt with me so gotta get away from it lol it sucks! Some of the old men are pervs that ive seen but yeah ive met some that are just a good convo and will help ya out at times if needed. I hope you can fiind a way to build a butt! I know I would hate to be without mine! I grew up with a bunch of stick family members so my curves weren’t welcome but now I definitely embrace them and the hubby likes em to so that doesnt hurt either lol. Just wish he would like them in better shape cuz he just doesnt care either way which is good… and bad!

What are you focused on right now? Lease you have the kid reason for messing up the body… I just had years of food abuse lol eating anything and everything so I might as well had a kid if you look at my stomach!

Switching to running on fats can take some time for people that are “sugar burners” and from how much time u spend in the gym prior I’d b eating even more lol. Have u tried sweet potatoes for your carb choice? I can’t stand brown rice plus I stay grain free for now and maybe forever. Best thing I think is the simpler the better… I think they say k.I.s.s keel it simple stupid… lol gotta remind myself of that. I also fast on a daily basis so keeps me more sane with my meal choices, I’ve tried the small meals throughout the day and it drives me nuts! I find nutrition fascinating though, I read labels even of the foods I’m not buying just to see what’s in them. Pretty amazing what goes in the body when you are oblivious to it. Definite can’t deny the very tasty foods but I want to permanently not even want any of them. It’s all a process and gotta do what works for u.
